![]() ![]() 1.7.10 is relatively simple to update, it just takes time. ![]() Just if you thought I was the OP, I'm not.įor both you don't have to start from scratch, the changes are not THAT drastic. I know my way around modding quite well, have modded for over 3 years and have worked with ASM to mod the game (bytecode injection). I'm currently in the process of updating my Mod to version MC_1.7.10.so I know my way around modding. Your best friend when trying to search for tutorials Wuppy has some good portion of information on updating from 1.7 versions to 1.8 versions. Unfortunately this means you're forced to start from scratch for both, 1.7.10 and 1.8, due to how the changes work. What I am doing is, modding with 1.7.10 Forge, then update on 1.8 and update to 1.8.3 as soon as Forge is available for 1.8.3. Your intial post doesn't mention Forge, neither does your thread title. But without Forge it can be difficult in learning how to mod without an API to help. In most cases, when Forge updates to the version it is quite easy to update, it just takes time. Not to mention that without Forge you have to edit the original source code, which destroys compatibility with other mods AND Forge itself. Modding without Forge is quite daunting to beginners as it is quite different from using Forge, and in most cases more difficult as you're working directly with the original source code so you need to be mindful of both what your code does to Mojang's and how to integrate your code into Mojang's in a way that allows you to do what you want both something difficult to learn when just starting with base edit modding. ![]() Forge is not updated to 1.8.3 yet, let alone 1.8.1. Forge allows you to do a lot without touching the original source code of the game, and it even allows you to do things that would take days of manual coding (such as a Wavefront model loader). No you cannot if you mod using Forge (which is highly recommended as it's the de facto API). Every new thread on the matter will improve peoples knowledge about every new MC version modding. If not, open a thread and specifically ask for questions regarding 1.8.3 modding methods. You just need to understand how the changes work. ![]() You can make Mods with 1.8.3 just as easy as with every other version. ![]()
